Organic Dirty Chai Tea Latte

Aldi does it again. I found another amazing #AldiFind this week! As I roamed down the Aldi Finds aisle, something new caught my eye. Two new cartons with organic labels! What could they be? One carton was for regular chai tea and another was for a dirty chai tea (“dirty” because of the added espresso). I may have done a little squeal of excitement right there in the aisle. Obviously I had to grab a carton of each.

First up, I had to try the dirty chai because I’m a sucker for all things coffee. Both teas do come sweetened so I didn’t have to worry about adding any sweetener, but I did need some creaminess. So I grabbed some organic unsweetened almond to add in. But first, because I was feeling fancy, I frothed the almond milk. This is so easy to do! Just pour your milk into a mason jar, shake vigorously for one minute, then uncover and microwave for one minute. The immediate heat after being shaken causes the milk bubbles to separate and become a sturdy froth. Then simply pour your milk into your warmed tea, and ta-da! A fancy, frothy, fabulous latte.

Back to the chai. It was so full of warm, spicy flavor. And smooth as can be with no bitter aftertaste. Who needs a $5 overpriced latte when you can make your own at home? These cartons are only $2.89 a piece. Oh, and let’s not forget that it is organic!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup chai tea mix, warmed
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or milk of your choice

Directions:

Pour your milk into a Mason jar and shake vigorously with the lid on for 1 minute. Immediately microwave for one minute, then pour your milk into your warmed tea. Usually the froth stays out of the way until the end, but you can also hold it back with a spoon if need be.

Enjoy!
