What I’m Loving (5 Senses Edition)

I recently read a very fun post from a fellow blogger at thispilgrimlife.com. She shared all of her current favorite things while staying at home. I loved reading through what she and her family were enjoying and thought I would share the same. But I am adding a little twist for my post! The theme here will be things I’m loving based off of our five senses. This is simply just for fun and I would love to know what you are loving right now too!

Let’s start with Taste:

My go to dessert has been this new #AldiFind. Vegan, dark chocolate oat cookies. Y’all, they are addicting. The ingredients are wonderful, they’re organic, and only have 7 grams of sugar per two cookies! Every night before bed, I’ve been eating an apple with almond butter and a couple cookies on the side. It’s the perfect sweet tooth cure.

Secondly, I have really been craving fizzy drinks this pregnancy. I found these sparkling coconut waters by Vita Coco at Walmart and have made sure to keep my refrigerator stocked. They are refreshing with the warmer weather approaching and I love that they are only lightly sweetened. They have more flavor than La Croix, thank goodness! haha My favorite flavor has been the pineapple passionfruit. Yum!

Hearing:

I love to begin every morning with music. I have a set worship playlist on my amazon music and shuffle through that at least once a day. Recently, I’ve fallen in love with a couple new worship songs! They are encouraging, calming, and filled with truth. Each is by CityAlight, who I know have been around for a while but I have just started listening to them. Click the links below to give them a listen!

Smell:

I don’t diffuse essential oils too often, but when I do I always use Plant Therapy Essential Oils! I love their kid safe line and their safety recommendations. Recently, I’ve begun diffusing their Mandarin Orange EO with their Defender EO. I simply add 2 drops of each oil to my diffuser and diffuse on for 15 minutes and off for 30 minutes. The scent is light, citrusy, and uplifting. A great scent to start your day with!

Another scent I always gravitate towards when the summer warms, is Poofy Organics hibiscus coconut lotion and body spray. This scent is a limited edition option that they only offer throughout the warmer months. The tropical scent is completely delightful and the ingredients are naturally amazing! The scent lasts well all day long and the lotion goes on smoothly without any greasy feeling.

Touch:

Speaking of lotions, I just have to share about Plant Therapy’s unscented body butter. With my growing pregnant belly, I needed an ultra moisturizing cream and I preferred something unscented so I could use it for my kiddos skin too. I gave this body butter a try and am so impressed with the luxurious feel. Once again, the ingredients are fantastic and safe to use on everyone! A little goes a long way.

Going along with the touch category, I wanted to throw in something my girls have been enjoying. They are all into at home spa days and painting their nails. We have been using Piggy Paint nail polish for a non toxic, odor free way to paint their nails. It can be bought online or even found at some Target and Walmart locations! The colors are fun and I feel confident letting them use these clean products.

See:

A couple things to finish up our last sense, Sight! We don’t have cable in our house, so any shows that we watch come from Amazon, Disney+, or Netflix. Hubby and I love to watch something together before bed each night and we have fallen back into one of our favorite shows, Psych! This is our third time watching this series and we still laugh just as much as we did the first time. It’s so funny, appropriate for a widespread audience, and never seems to get old. If you’re looking for a new show to dive into, make sure to check it out on Amazon!

Y’all know how much I love to read, so I couldn’t help but share a recent book that I read. The Lost Girls of Paris by Pam Jenoff was a captivating story that I could not put down. It was my first Pam Jenoff book and I immediately requested more books of hers from the library. Historical fiction is my favorite genre and this one had just the right balance between history, romance, and adventure.

Last but not least, I have been following SarahBethYoga throughout my entire pregnancy. Her prenatal yoga videos have been so helpful! The prenatal videos are suited for mamas in any trimester and really help with aches, pains, and positioning baby. And they’re all free! Not pregnant? She offers a large variety of yoga videos for everyone!

Taste: Being gluten free, I splurged today and had a real bun on my hamburger during our lunch cookout. I really miss real bread!

Being dairy free also, I am thrilled that Silk makes a dairy feee whipping cream now. That was the final DF/GF ingredient I needed to make our family’s favorite Mint Dessert!! Plus I eat this whipping cream now on anything I can find to put it on.

Hearing: I love hearing our son, Avery, lead worship at our church. I also am loving hearing our other son, Joshua, learning to play keyboard as he is now writing his own chord progressions.

Smell: I love waking up to the smell of coffee that my dear hubby makes me every morning.

Touch: I love hugs! Hugs from our kids. Hugs from our grandkids. Hugs from my hubby. Nothing beats a good hug!

I also love putting on comfy clothes or jammies. During this pandemic, I have enjoyed staying in cozy clothes all day.

See: The ocean. Being sick for much of the past 2 months, I was inside the house every day. Being able to go outside and go to the beach was a beautiful sight today. It has made me realize how much I take for granted. Learning to appreciate and count my blessings ❤️
