Green Smoothie

Our home was hit with a little bug. Just a simple virus, but enough to keep us inside and resting for a while. I try to keep our diets as clean as possible, but especially so when we are sick. It had been a while since I had made one of our favorite green smoothies, and it just so happened that I had all the ingredients I needed! So into the blender went some immune boosting fruits AND veggies.

Don’t let the green color scare you though, this smoothie doesn’t taste like grass. I promise. It has a pina colada twist thanks to the added pineapple and coconut milk. I love adding raw, local honey for extra sweetness and to help with allergies. My kiddos love this smoothie and even my husband (who usually prefers sugar filled smoothies) thought it was tasty. Win!

This was just the burst of freshness we needed to kickstart our immune systems into feeling better!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • Handful of kale
  • Handful of spinach
  • 1/2 cup chopped pineapple
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 1 tbsp raw, local honey
  • 1 cup canned coconut milk

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth, about 2 to 3 minutes. Enjoy!
