Homemade Lemonade

Everyone needs a good, go to recipe for lemonade. This one is simple and refreshing. With only a little prep work to make the simple syrup (sugar dissolved in water). You will love how easily this comes together.

I recently was able to find organic lemons at Aldi for a great price. Organic cane sugar is another Aldi find that I keep on hand at all times. When both of these comes together with water of course, you’re in for an organic drink that’s sure to please everyone!

Ingredients:

  • 5 lemons, sliced in half
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 5 cups water

Directions:

Combine sugar and 1 cup of water into a sauce pan over medium high heat. Stir constantly until sugar is completely dissolved, usually about 2 to 3 minutes then transfer to a different container and store in the fridge to cool. While syrup is cooling, juice all your lemons into a pitcher and add 4 cups of water. Place pitcher into the fridge and wait until syrup is chilled before combining with lemon juice and water. Once everything is chilled and combined, serve over ice and enjoy!

*Rule of thumb here is to have a cup of water per lemon. And don’t forget to count the water used in your simple syrup!*

P.s. lemonade goes wonderfully with my chicken enchiladas!
