Crockpot Greek Chicken on Naan

Greek flavors have to be some of my favorite for dinners! Greek chicken is so versatile for meals. Another greek favorite of mine is tzatziki sauce, which is usually in greek gyros. The flavorful greek chicken with the bright tzatziki is a match made in heaven. Layer it on soft naan with fresh tomatoes and cucumbers and your meal is complete!

This is my take on a simpler greek gyro. You can also use this chicken on salads, in chicken salad, on it’s own or in pasta! The options are endless. The chicken is made in the crockpot, making this meal even easier. The chicken stores well in the refrigerator for about five days. So this can definitely be prepped at the beginning of the week or doesn’t need to be used right away.

Greek Chicken Ingredients:

  • 3 chicken breasts
  • 1 white onion, sliced
  • Juice of half a lemon (save the other half of your lemon for your tzatziki!)
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

Directions:

Place your sliced onion on the bottom of your crock pot. Add chicken on top, then seasonings, and finally finish with broth. Cook on low for 6 to 7 hours then shred chicken.

Tzatziki Ingredients:

  • 1 cup plain greek yogurt
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 1 to 2 tsp dried dill (I love dill so I usually add extra!)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • half a cucumber, diced

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Taste and adjust seasonings to your desired preference. Let sit in the fridge until ready for serving! To serve: Spread tzatziki on a slice of naan bread then add chicken, fresh tomatoes, and fresh cucumbers.

Enjoy!
