Sourdough Sandwich Loaf

Ready for another sourdough post? Y’all, I just can’t help myself. I am having so much fun with my sourdough starter! Now that I’ve figured out sourdough, my goal is to only bake any bread we may need. We go through a lot of sandwich bread in a week. This sourdough sandwich loaf fits our needs perfectly!

The texture is sturdy enough for sandwiches, but still soft on the inside. I’ll go ahead with some honesty and let you know that my first try with this recipe did not go well. I over proofed my dough, deflated it when scoring the dough, then over baked the loaf. Basically anything that I could do to mess it up, I did. But it was still edible and I knew if I tried again, I could do better.

So here I give you this beautiful, golden loaf!

For round 2, I made sure NOT to overproof the dough. I also purchased a specific bread scoring tool instead of trying to use a knife (only $10 on amazon and totally worth it!).

I’ve really been loving Kate’s recipe from her blog, https://teamschat.wordpress.com/2017/12/11/sourdough-sandwich-bread/. I will say that I had to adjust the baking time slightly for my oven and bake it for about 10 minutes less than suggested.

There’s really nothing like having your own freshly baked bread in your home. Give sourdough a try! You won’t be disappointed.
