THE Turkey Burger Recipe

You hear the words “turkey burgers” and immediately turn your nose up. I get it. Most turkey burgers are dry and bland. But this recipe.. these are not most turkey burgers!

Adapted from The Pioneer Woman’s Recipe, these burgers will melt in your mouth and keep you coming back for more. Fried in bacon grease, topped with pesto, and served on a toasted bun. Trust me, you will love these.

We love them so much that my family actually prefers them over regular hamburgers now. And leftover, they taste just as yummy!

Ingredients:

  • 1 pack bacon (I love the Never Any brand from Aldi!)
  • 1 pack of ground Turkey
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • Several dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • Jarred pesto
  • Hamburger buns, toasted
  • Avocado, spinach, and tomatoes for topping

Directions:

Combine ground Turkey, egg yolk, seasoned salt, pepper, and Worcestershire in a bowl then pat out patties.

Cook bacon in a skillet over medium high heat. Once all bacon has been cooked, leave grease in pan, reduce heat to medium and add in your Turkey patties. Cook on each side for 4 to 5 minutes, making sure there is no pink in the middle.

As burgers finish cooking, spread butter or (my favorite) Nutiva Coconut Oil Butter on the inside of each bun. For a quick toasting method, place buns butter side up on a pan and broil them on high in the oven for 1 to 2 minutes. These become golden quickly, so make sure not to burn!

Once burgers are cooked, grab your toasted buns and smear one side with pesto and the other side with mashed avocado. Add spinach and bacon to bottom, add burger, then top with other half of bagel. Enjoy!

*additional toppings: cheese, tomatoes, or whatever your heart desires!

P.S. Aldi’s pita chips make a perfect side!
